RODNEY L. DEMERY

...is a long-time lawman and host of Investigation Discovery's "Murder Chose Me".

In “Murder Chose Me”, the retired Shreveport homicide detective reflects on the career he was destined for since the age of 3, when his own mother was murdered. Vowing to ensure that no family would be denied justice the way his family was, Demery served 14 years as a detective in the violent crimes unit, with an unprecedented 100% confession and solve rate as lead investigator. Intimate first-person storytelling meets a gritty Southern backdrop in Shreveport, La.

Demery's law enforcement career includes investigations in the following areas: sex crimes, burglary and armed robbery, and narcotics.

Demery is a certified and experienced hostage negotiator. S.W.A.T. certified, he has done extensive undercover work. The 25-year law enforcement veteran also is a distinguished firearms expert, a certified investigator of officer-involved shootings, and has military police and corrections certification. Demery is currently employed as a special homicide investigator for the Caddo Parish District Attorney’s Office in Shreveport, La.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Louisiana State University, a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc., and is a United States Navy war veteran of Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm.

Demery is the author of "Things My Daughters Need to Know: A Cop and Father’s View of Sex, Relationships and Happiness" and "No Place for Race: Why We Need to Address Economic and Social Factors That Are Crushing Us Every Day."
